Mohr Action Now
I know I have been lazy lately posting here but I have been trying to catch up on a bunch of things lately. I have been playing the hell out of Call of Duty 2 and now that I finally finished that I am going to put my 360 down for a bit and catch up on all of my Tivo'ed shows (4 episodes of Bones... man have I neglected that one) and devote a bit more time to practicing my bass. Lessons are going well but I definately need more practice which I will now devote more time to... hell, maybe by this time next year I will be better than Flea. (yeah RIGHT).
Anyway today a new addition came into the mix of distractions for me. One of the BEST television shows you have never heard of was just put out on DVD after years of paitent waiting... Action starring Jay Mohr. This show only lasted 13 episodes and was cancelled because it was too "edgy" for tv. Basically this show was filmed for the Showtime network (which means uncensored) and at the last second it was dropped, picked up by FOX and in a rush to air the show the network just added censor beeps over all of the cursing (and there was a lot). Because of the all of the foul language the network felt that in the end the show was too "MATURE" oriented for tv and they pulled the plug on it.
This show was so WRONG on many levels but it was funny as hell. Believe me when I tell you it pulled no punches and often at times watching it I found myself saying "oh shit, they DID NOT go there...damn they DID".
In a quick summary of the show Jay Mohr plays "Peter Dragon" a big time Hollywood movie producer known for his over the top action films (think Stallone movies times 10). Dragon spends the life of the series trying to get a movie (Beverly Hills Gun Club) financed. The show basically bitch-slaps Hollywood in the face and satiraclly shows how sleezy, corrupt and immoral that the movie business is (according to them).
Action has something for everyone as it is filled with cursing, prostitution, drugs, deception, celebrity cameos and enough lying to make even a politician blush (and thats just in the first episode). I totally give it the Captain's Seal of Approval... check it out.

Great show. Illeana Douglas is one of those actresses you swear are right about to go big and then she doesn't.
