My Tivo named HAL
Yesterday I mentioned how much I love having a DVR and Tivo service and in a day I still have not changed my mind but I am a bit miffed. I came home from work today and found that my Tivo recorded like 40 shows that I did not schedule. To me this is freaky, the damn thing has a mind of its own and started recording recommendations based on my viewing habits. When I checked my "suggestion" list I saw another 50 things it was going to record.... WTF man. I appreciate its wanting to help me out but I will record what I want ...please no help, I spent an hour erasing these ridiculous shows and cancelling out future recordings (some help that is). Not to make it all complaints because it is still cool to have a recording service again and after I finish writing this I will go and watch tonights episode of Supernatural that I have just finished recording.
As an aside Supernatural is a kick ass show and I totally recommend it. It is not high art but it is fun as hell and at times downright creepy.... way fun to watch, check it out.

First off I did tell you to read the book. ;-)
To turn it off, hit the Tivo Button, messages & Setup, Settings, suggestions then choose no.
you dont need to delete them, they are the lowest priority and will drop off first as needed. you can also check the todo list and delete what you dont want recorded and thumbs down them.
also, if you use the thumbs up and down button it helps getting good stuff.
This reminds me of the episode of "King of Queens" when Spence's tivo recorded a bunch of girly shows based on what he watched. "My tivo thinks I'm gay!" Haha. I agree totally about Supernatural, best new show this season, IMO.
