A Good Split
Tonights 9-ball league was cool. I split my games (won 2 and lost 2) but I felt good about it. I won the first of my games against an equal player but what made me happy about it was that I played that game (and the first time in my life) intelligently. After the break my opponent had left the 9 ball hanging in the pocket and and I had no LEGITIMATE way of getting it in at that point and I did not want the other guy getting lucky on his next shot and winning so rather than take my shot I purposely scratched by sinking the 9 ball out of sequence and forcing it to be placed back safely in the center of the table and out of danger. After this move my opponent had a free shot and tried getting the 9 ball in and again he missed and again he left it dangerously near a pocket but this time when I got to shoot I had a clear chance at sinking it with a combo shot, it was a tricky one but I was able to hit it and win...... YEAHHH ME. I then lost the next two games but I totally did not mind because I was matched up against really really good players. I lost that first game when my opponent sunk the 9 ball on the break and instantly won and for that I tip my hat to him, nothing I can do about that one. The next loss I held my own but I was no match for that dude he is ranked 2 levels higher than me and its for a good reason and all I can say about that loss is that I did not make a fool of myself. Then in my last game I played anther player 2 levels higher but I shot well enough to hang in the game and when the guy finally made one mistake I was able to sink the 6 ball for the win (handicaps are given to higher level players to balance things out a bit and my opponents handicap was from the 6 ball and up meaning if I get either 6, 7, 8, or 9 I win granted I call my shot accurately). All in all it was a pretty good night and I was happy with the way I shot and after the game the homies and I went for a bite to eat and I had a kick ass grilled chicken Ceaser wrap so basically the night went well.
