And The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth

I seldom talk about it when I duscuss games but I have always been a fan of role playing games. It started with the pseudo-rpg, The Legend of Zelda and my affection for the genre was solidified with the first Phantasy Star game for the Sega Master System. Anyway my point is for a long time I have enjoyed RPGs and 2 years ago I was psyched when Final Fantasy XI Online was released but I had never purchased the game... why, because I HATE gaming on PC and the PS2 version was priced at $100. The price was bullshit because the game was packaged with a hard drive for the PS2 that was required to play the game. I was willing to pay the money at the time but the reason I held off was because besides using it for FF XI the hard drive was useless. Sony promised that more games would utelize it but it never happened so I felt that it was a waste of money.... that plus the fact that I had an Xbox at the time that I used a whole lot more than the inferior PS2.

Now we flash foward two and a half years and I can finally say that I am a happy geek in all my nerdy glory. My long wait for the game has ended because today Final Fantasy XI was released for the fantabulous Xbox 360 and now with existing hard drive in full effect for the 360 I am able to get this game..... WOO HOO

Actually my wait to play this game is not fully over yet because as I write this post I am installing the game on my 360 hard drive, an almost 2 hour process. The waiting is killing me here, I know that I waited over 2 years to get the game so 2 more hours won't kill me but it annoying having this game in my hands and not being able to get my geek on.

Anyway I got to play an early release trial version of the game (a beta version) which was packaged with a magazine that I subscribe to and I am glad to say that the game really is cool. There were some issues that bothered me with the beta version and as soon as I finish the install I will cross my fingers and hope that those issues were fixed here with the real release version.

My install is just about done so I'm off do be the best nerd that I can be..... see you all when I become a level 20 Blue Mage.
